Our partner Valentina Cabrera is responsible for providing legal, corporate, and tax advice to national and multinational companies engaged in the marketing of food and beverages. This includes general advice on tax, exchange rate issues, contracts, and investment protection.
She also offers advisory services and is involved in negotiations with municipal authorities regarding the determination and payment of the Economic Activities Tax, achieving significant reductions in the contingencies initially determined by the relevant authorities.

EXPERIENCE
Advised lenders in a loan operation led by JBIC, Mitsui, and Marubeni for USD 3.5 billion to PDVSA, including the implementation of financial and commercial guarantees, as well as the implementation of supply contracts (Offtake Agreement) as collateral for the debt.
RECOGNITIONS
Currently, and for the past 10 years (2009 – 2021), she has been recognized in the international magazine Chambers Latin America within the ranking for her expertise, prestigious, and outstanding work in the areas of Tax and Energy.
She has also been acknowledged as one of the best lawyers in the country in these areas by the international magazines Latin Lawyer from 2012 to 2019, and in The Legal 500 for the years 2014 – 2015, also in the same practice areas.
SKILLS
She has extensive knowledge in the energy sector, with experience advising on gas exploration projects under a licensing regime; advising on joint venture negotiations for hydrocarbon production; negotiating and advising on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts for the construction, commissioning, and/or modernization of power plants and petrochemical facilities; advising contractors in the oil industry on services related to oil production both onshore and offshore; and providing advice on international arbitration and dispute negotiations under Venezuelan law.
She has significant experience participating in financing projects for private and public entities; mergers; structuring and protecting investments; providing advice on exchange rate issues; legal advice in tax matters at both national and municipal levels, with particular expertise in international taxation.
